Moreover, from the speech of the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce (Mr. Buckley Johnson, the local head of the great House Jardine Matheson & Co., and one of the Unofficial members of the Council), it will be seen that my action has had the effect, (as I foretold in the above mentioned despatch), of removing much discontent and of forestalling much agitation in this community.
